Well, they do say officer safety is paramount…

…but…well…

Oh, hell, this certainly has to be the quote of the day, if nothing else:

“Obviously at some point they were conscious because somebody felt threatened,”

…said Inglewood’s mayor in a brave attempt to explain why police officers in Inglewood, California shot and killed a couple who were sitting in a car – and who couldn’t have been acting out too violently since it turns out they were also both unconscious at the time.

Unfortunately this development raises problems with the first version of how this couple ended up on the wrong side of police gunfire…

The officers noticed the woman in the car had a gun and ordered her and a male occupant to exit the vehicle, Collins said. Officers then took cover and opened fire, hitting both suspects.

That command might have been easier for the two people to have obeyed, had they been conscious at the time. I dunno, I wasn’t there. Maybe she made a furtive twitching motion.

But hey, the police felt threatened. So it’s all good.

Last time I was in Inglewood, about 20 years ago, it was a very dangerous place. I see it’s gotten worse. 🙁 At least the police have gotten worse. I didn’t think it was possible.

  2. Cops are cowardly scum.

I seem to recall an Black girl in LA who was sleeping in her car at a gas station. Someone called a cop, the cop walked up to her car, saw a gun in her lap and started banging on the window.
Naturally, she, being sound asleep jumped, he claims she grabbed the gun….emptied his into her.
There was much dudgeon over that, and rightfully so. What made matters all the worse was the story the cop told changed a few times, they then proceeded to smear the shit out of her as an addict, single other, used bad language…. had big feet.
Seems she didn’t own a gun and there was an issue actually getting finger prints off of it.
    Makes ya wonder.
Now, one of my uncles was a cop in Pomona, later Los Alamitos. A very bad cop. He told us on MANY occasions that he always carried a defaced pistol on him in the event that someone needed adjusting. The way he told it before he took his place roasting in Hell, the one he retired with was not the same one he started with, not by a long shot ;and he was not the only one who did it.
