I keep running into discussions in which I end up denounced as a traitor and a Very Bad Person because I don’t consider Islam to be much of a threat.
If I condoned or made excuses for terrorism (I certainly don’t) I could understand it. But that’s not what people object to. “Don’t you understand that ISIS wants to take over the whole world? I hope you’ll be happy when we’re all living under Sharia law!”
When all I’m saying is that Islam is the Pinky and the Brain of world domination. Moslems have been working on it for 1500 years or so, and one time they managed to conquer Spain. But couldn’t hold it. True, they’re God’s gift to ensuring that the middle east remains a hellhole, but when it comes to conquering the rest of the world they’re pretty much reduced to taking Japanese guys hostage and whining about cartoons. Try as I might, I cannot take this seriously as a global threat.
But let me bumble into some conservative blogger’s 2-minute hate session and mention anything along these lines, and you’d think I’d burned down a church.
Granted that terrorism should not be tolerated – though how disarming everybody by law is going to fix terrorism is a question for which I doubt there’s a good answer – and it’s easy for me to talk when I’m one of the last people on earth who has to worry about some guy going Allah Akbar on my skinny ass. I can understand people getting upset and even over-reacting about terrorism. It’s the fear of Islamic world domination I don’t get. And why, oh why, is displaying that fear considered a sign that you’re a good patriotic American?
Not too sure how many people are actually concerned about Middle East guys taking over the world any time soon, but the usual suspects have pretty much managed to convince a lot of people that anyone who objects to the dear leaders or the current government, especially if they are armed, have joined the Muslims and are now all “terrorists” too. A big part of that problem is the general acceptace of government as having legitimate authority to define those things, and to “protect” them from whatever by killing lots and lots of “terrorists” and anyone else they can label as anti-government… soon as they figure out a way to disarm us, of course.
Whatever the government tells them is “patriotic,’ and their teachers repeat it, their preachers and their families reinforce it too. Killing “terrorists” is as “American” as apple pie and motherhood to the deluded…
So, to the average person who has drunk the kool-aid, any objection to the slaughter of whoever gets in the way of the “protectors” is unamerican…. well, it’s not hard to understand why they think we’re not “patriots.”
I think we all know that. I just realized that was probably a rhetorical question. 🙁

Fear has always been a tool by those in power. It was Hermann Göring who said “The people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same way in any country.”
The biggest threat to the use of fear as a patriotic motivator is the siamese twins of intelligence and thought. Those souls who will not or cannot think for themselves simply grab onto the conga line of patriotic fervor and curse those who don’t. The worst thing that can be done to these people is ask why. As for me I have said for a long time that if someone sprouts an incredible statement I don’t see the problem in asking for incredible proof.
Six years ago rdical Islam was at war in about two dozen countries around the world. They are killing Christians and kidnapping child brides. Today in most of those 24 countries they have essentially won. Most Christains are dead or have left and those poor kidnapped child brides were abused and many ended up dead. Since then they have taken on more countries. This is all happening with or without your care or my care. We are choosing to do nothing so they are choosing to take advantage of it. Africa will be 95% Muslim in ten years and South America has a target on it’s ass. Most of the small countries in Asia are feeling the pressure and it will continue to mount until they are overthrown. You may not be interested in war with the radical Islmaist but they are interested in war with you. I would expect a major attack on U.S. soil within five years; perhaps a nuke in NY City, maybe some other large city, maybe Sarin gas in the Subway, maybe collapsing a half dozen of our biggest skyscrapers, whatever they can pull off. They are coming, they want to kill you and me and everyone except girls between the ages of 11 to 25. They are succeeding beyond the wildest expectations. Worry? Fear? Naw, just ignore them…
Islam is not a major threat if the west takes their goals seriously and STOPS THEM. Problem is far too many people refuse to acknowledge that Islam wants to rule the world and in many cases actively aid and abet Islamic evil. Islam is like an infection…..not a serious threat if you deal with it promptly and properly but fatal if you don’t.
Radical Islam is running out of time. Mass Media, blue jeans, Ipods, Western movies, makeup etc are destroying any hope they might have of retaining the future for their sick Sharia laws. The Imams know this. They know that if they don’t bring the caliphate about in the next ten years or less, that they are finished. The US giving them somebody to hate by the almost continuous meddling in their affairs isn’t helping them wander into the La Brea tarpits of history.
They are finished. They just don’t know it yet. The simple fact that they are squashing their women would be enough, but the ridiculous insanity of Sharia will ensure it. Just like everybody else, they are their own worst enemy.
Living under sharia law. Heh. Silly people. Don’t you understand that life is all about refusing to live under a system of laws that you find unconscionable?
Besides, we’ve got enough dudes with deer rifles to put an end to any attempt by 6th century cousin-buggerers to “force” us to do anything at all.
I fear the PATRIOT act more than I do said coysin-buggerers.
But that’s just me.
Oh, and Islam is not the issue. I wish people could figure that out. It’s just an excuse. The idea that without Islam that said cousin-buggerers would be totally peaceful is pretty simple minded.

Exactly! George Orwell himself couldn’t have crafted a more ironic and misleading name for Public Law 107–56 than the “PATRIOT Act”. That’s my favorite example of government doublespeak.

To my way of thinking this really isn’t abut the media. For all those dead Christians in Africa or Iraq it matters little to nothing if the media hyped or failed to report. I’m concerned with the reality. 6, 8 and 10 years ago about two dozen countries were actively targeted by and were fighting with radical Islam. For most of those countries the fight continues but for most of those countries they have been losing. In another 10 years more then half of them will be Islamic with all non muslims killed or enslaved. It will happen with or without the media’s attention. Islam has their eye on us too. I would assume that the odds of a serious attack in this country in the next five years is better then even. Serious being defined as 10 times worse then 9/11. This will happen even if the media ignores all the facts or trumpets them. You may not be interested in war with Islam but they are interested in war with you. When some of those two dozen of so countries are islamicized Islam will move on to other countries. Europe is in their sights and of course Israel is always at risk. They will move into South America and slowly build up until they can act openly. This isn’t something some slick TED speaker can prevent or gloss over. It is real coming to a place near you soon. The thing that makes us most vulnerable is we do not understand it. We believe that everyone is like us and provide them with modern amenities, education and good food and they would choose civiliization over their 7th century belief system. They will not. They intend to kill or dominate you and right up until it happens you will be making excuses for them and denying anyone spreading a warning. The realization that it may take a war so unimaginable and unthinkable to stop this scares me. But I think it is inevitable. That is a billion or so people must die and the choice is not if but which billion. Them or the West. What makes all of this worse (if that is possible) is that they know this too but we in the West do not or at least have not accepted it yet.
Conservatives aren’t happy unless they have something to fear, and the smaller and more pathetic that thing is, the more they fear it.
