Whoops, a phone call drew me away for a couple of hours there…

I was actually working on a post when the phone rang…”We’re taking some stuff to the thrift store. You got anything to go?”

Hell, I had half a building full of stuff to go. But that meant I had to get my sorry self out the door and over to J&H’s before breakfast, and the blog got knocked three or four rungs down the priority ladder.

On a completely unrelated topic: Little Bear has given me ample reason to behave as if he’s forever a retarded five-year-old in a fur coat, but every now and then – for no apparent reason – he does something with genius. Like just now, while I was typing the paragraph above.

He’s got a touchy stomach, which considering his size can have apocalyptic consequences. But just now he had to void his stomach, and instead of just hurling the contents across the floor the way he normally does he actually got up and ran to the oversize and presently empty food bowl, and let it all go in there. Every drop. It was amazing, exactly like something a human would do, and I could not believe my eyes. In fact I exclaimed so excitedly over it that for a moment he thought he’d done something wrong. Far be it from me to discourage such a prodigy of The Right Thing, and so I dropped what I was doing and praised him to the skies – and then took both him and the bowl outdoors.

May not have been genius. He might have gone to the food dish with the intention or re-eating it later. That’s my doggie experience anyway. But, Good LB, for whatever reason. 🙂

Better than re-eating it off the floor. Quite an advance in man-dog relations.
