Shipped!

Joel's new toy
It’s going from a city to a city to a town to a smaller town, enriching FFLs all along the way, so it may be a while arriving. On the other hand if everything clicks perfectly it could be here this weekend.

Uncle Joel excited now.

About Joel

You shouldn't ask these questions of a paranoid recluse, you know.

Hopefully every “click” will be quickly followed by a loud “BANG!!!”

Or were those not the “clicks” you were talking about?

Why would more than one FFL be involved on each end? Stupid as that is, of course. But why more than that?

  3. Joel says:

I dunno the exact legal requirements. I just made that part up.

MamaLiberty if you think that’s bad, when I learned that Joel was looking for a replacement for his .44 I checked into sending him a S&W model 19 with a 4 inch barrel. OMG between the RCMP/BATF regulations it was going to take months and lots of bucks. Here is what I was told…
Information required for exporting a firearm to the United States:
    – Locate a Federal Firearms License (FFL) dealer willing and licensed to import a rifle/shotgun. If needed, we can assist with locating a FFL dealer.
    – Complete ATF Form 6 and 6a via the FFL dealer. Note: Most dealers will charge $50 to $80 for this service.
    – Wait for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) to approve the permit. This can take anywhere from 12 to 30 weeks.
    – Send the approved permit to us via mail or courier. We will then forward it to the Canadian government with our application for export and de-registration. This typically takes 2-6 weeks. There is a $50.00 (CAD) charge for this service, plus an additional $35.00 (CAD) for Prohibited firearms.
    – Once these steps have been completed, the firearm can be shipped to the US. Unfortunately, US law requires the firearm be shipped by Air. The approximate cost for a handgun is $95.00 and $160.00 for a rifle or shotgun.
Note: The ATF dealer must be willing to pick up the parcel at their nearest International airport.

Noooooooooooooo! My eyes are going to bleed. That’s even more insane than I could have imagined… and my imagination is very agile. I’m glad this nightmare will be over for Joel shortly, even if it takes running the merchandise through a couple of FFL wringers. Better that than the Canadian/US wood chipper. 🙂

Excuse my ignorance Joel. Is that gun stainless steel?

  7. Zelda says:

Givven that Joel could stand on a street corner in Detroit, Los Angeles, Chicago, Miami, NYC, etc. and put in an order/buy that gun in hours, it’s certainly an inefficient and expensive alternative way to obtain it. But of coiurse we all feel safe, yes?, knowing that firearms possession is monitored, regulated and controlled. Wow, it’s functionally beautiful, looking forward to blog posts about it.

  8. Tres awesome, Joel. May it be not only exactly what you need, but exactly what you want, as well.
