If the fish rots from the head first, I think this is evidence we’ve reached at least the base of the tail.
First, of course the policeman’s assertion that
“Obama just decimated the freakin’ Constitution, so I don’t give a damn. If he doesn’t follow the Constitution, we don’t have to.”
is nonsense on every conceivable level. The constitution has nothing to do with the organization or practices of municipal governments, which tend to be hilariously corrupt anyway, and I doubt there’s ever been a New Jersey cop who needed lessons in corruption from the Great Community Organizer. They could probably teach him a thing or two.
I just thought it was funny.

I could swear that I saw a video clip from just after The One was first elected to the office of Chief Public Servant in which a cop was giving a protester a hard time. The protester said “this used to be a free county” and the cop replied with “not anymore”. Can’t for the life of me *find* that clip nowadays. Did I dream it?
No, I seem to recall something of the sort. Wouldn’t begin to know how to find it now, though.
I’m still trying to figure out how he feels about this- I mean, is he excited that the constitution has been decimated? Angry and filled with angst and self-loathing? Is he just glad he doesn’t have to hide is local corruption and human rights violations?
Wolfman – I was wondering the same thing.
The biggest problem that I have is the frustration that police officers routinely show whenever people claim their rights under the Bill of Rights. The TSA is awful about this, too.
It’s kind of like “Yeah, we know, you have rights, hippy. Whatever. Shut the fuck up and do what you’re told, because we really don’t care. Got a problem with that? Sue us. Go ahead. See how that works out for you”
I will note that those same people screech the loudest when it’s THEIR rights being violated, but that’s just human nature. We shouldn’t expect better from our public servants with qualified immunity, a monopoly on violence, and weapons. Right? Guys? Right?
