I’m super green!

And so proud!

I was just falling down a rabbit hole this morning while sipping coffee and listening to the Vogelzang rumble, and I followed a link to this article right here which asks the meaningful and highly relevant to our times question, “Can a gorgeous award-winning Japanese wood stove be called green?”

Okay, I don’t care about Japanese things, design awards, or being green – in fact those may well be the three top items on my list of things about which I don’t care. Which is kind of extensive, so maybe not. But it was an idle moment so I read the vapid article, and then for giggles I moused down and read the comments. And I came upon this…

My house is located in a 10 acre forest and dead fall provides more than enough fuel for my wood stove. Even counting chain saw fuel, and log splitter fuel, this process is carbon negative (removing dead fall allows new growth to accelerate). If I were in the city, this clearly would not be the case.

…making the argument, of course, that woodstoves are actually green as hell even though they burn Gaia’s beloved trees, because “carbon neutral.”

And I got to thinking about that, and hey! I mothballed my chainsaw because for the past two winters I’ve heated almost exclusively with old pallets. Which I cut up with electric saws, using electricity I generate with solar power!

Is it physically possible to get more carbon-neutral than that?

So if I met an ecofreak, would he throw himself at my feet screeching “I am not worthy?” Personally I doubt we’d be able to tolerate one another’s presence.

Personally, if “carbon” was actually responsible for any sort of global warming, I’d be working my tail off to release as much of it as possible. It’s COLD here this morning, damn it, and going to get a LOT colder soon. I’d love to have every bit of the “warming” predicted. And then some. 🙂

Can’t do anything about global warming, but I can stay out of Wyoming in winter. And have done so. 😛

  3. MamaLiberty says:

Indeed. LOL And I wouldn’t have any complaint about the Wyoming winter if the electric bill this year wasn’t 40% higher than last year. Oh, and firewood too. I don’t think any of us can win, no matter where we live. 🙂 We’re paranoid because an awful lot of people ARE out to get us.
