Taking care of Ghost again. Good thing I’m not in New York.

Because I don’t have a license. 😀

Pet lovers are barking mad over a little-known city rule that makes dog-sitting illegal in New York.

Apparently there’s a new dog-sitting app that’s gotten popular, and somebody in the city gov dusted off this old licensing rule to skim off the city’s share of the booty.

It’s weird – I see something like that and automatically wonder “How can anyone live there?” And they’d be saying exactly the same thing about me, if they knew I existed.

Then they’d want to see my license…

“Open up, Citizen . . . we’re the Pet Police and we’re here to examine your facility and make sure it meets City Code YZ41665/b, Rev 438b. Be advised that we are armed with the latest US Government-issue assault weapons in order to secure the site (and make sure we go home safe at end-of-shift!)”

They live there because they LUVS them some Big Government to take care of their every need and desire.

And I hate to break this to you, Kentucky, but “Law Enforcement” only bothers to say that AFTER they have smashed through your front door, killed your pets, and assaulted your wife. If you’re lucky they won’t kill you until AFTER they make that announcement.

And I hate to break this to you, Mark, but I’m actually aware of current events and was just trying for a little sick humor there . . .

I’ve got mixed feelings about that one.

Its NYC, so OF COURSE licenses are required, and the NYC residents have only themselves to blame for it. So I lack sympathy……

I hate that NYS lets NYC get away with this sort of crap, cause who really cares that someone’s paying the neighbor kid to take care of the dogs??

But on the other hand there is a growing number of horror stories in online dog-lover communities about people hired to care for dogs via similar apps, who didn’t care for them very well.

But then who hires a random stranger to care for your beloved pet without checking them over properly? So I lack sympathy……

But HOW do you properly check over the person who you’re hiring? A licensed kennel its easy to get info on, find reviews, talk to other customers.

I’m not sure what the middle ground OUGHT to be, but since its NYC I’m sure they won’t find it!
