Here, kitty, kitty…

We’re actually lousy with bobcats, but you could live here your whole life and never see one. They’re mostly but not entirely nocturnal, and quite shy.

I’ve been hoping the game camera would catch one in the act of being here, though I didn’t hold out a whole lot of hope. But a few nights ago one wandered into range…

Not exactly a mountain lion – which we also have – but it ain’t your garden-variety housecat, either.

Just got to get one of those cameras! I’ve seen a wolf, a fox and a badger here, along with all the usual critters in the daytime, but I’d love to see what lurks around here at night. I might actually get a picture of our resident mountain lion. I’ve seen tracks and scat, but never the animal.

I saw one last month during the tail end of deer season in south Texas. Came out of brush only 20 yards away, easily within range. Beautiful animals, I haven’t the heart to shoot one just to admire it up close. I’d rather have them roaming around to admire from afar. Sneaky but curious is my description of their behavior.

I’m with ML, I’ve just got to get me one of those camera contraptions. There’s a lot of wildlife around here, but most of it is of the night time variety. I’m really curious to see what’s out and about after dark. .

I talked my husband into a trail cam when we bought this house. He wasn’t sold, but it was cheap. When it died he told me to buy a pair of nicer ones, cause he enjoys the pictures as much as I do.

I swear we’ve had big cat tracks here a couple times, but so far not been able to catch one on camera, nice shots!

To the stake with the heretic!
