Toby is making the company feel welcome and loved. You have trained him well to be a good host.

    Toby, blast spellcheck!

  3. Anonymous says:

    Did it again. “Tobie”

  4. Joel says:

    S’okay. Tobie can’t spell.

  5. Ben says:

Have you EVER had a dog that wouldn’t happily throw over the old hermit in favor of the closest friendly human female? I seem to recall that as a constant of your several dogs.

  6. Old Trainer says:

Tobie just has good taste in people! See, he not only will put up with you but really likes the family folks! He is also smart enough to know making friends is always a good idea.

This is him showing you loyalty by protecting your guests. My Pyrenees does the exact same thing with company at the hideout. It’s frustrating because they are not necessarily comfortable with a dog.

I don’t have that problem because all my people are dog people

Never, and it’s not looking good for the immediate future.

  9. Jim Price says:

Does he make a fuss when you head for Ian’s cave for the night because he can’t spend the night with the ladies?

  10. Joel says:

We did it both ways. The first two nights he stayed with me in the Cave – and he hated it so much that he woke me up approximately 100 times. The second night, he learned he could howl. The third and fourth nights, I left him in the cabin with the girls – and both times when I headed for the door, he wanted to come with me. But after I left he settled down and was quiet all night.
