Black Lives Matter meetings run afoul of library’s policy
NASHVILLE — Library officials have told Nashville’s chapter of the Black Lives Matter movement that meetings restricting those who attend by race aren’t allowed on public property.
The decision has outraged Black Lives Matter members.
Apparently the local BLM chapter had been holding meetings in this public library for quite some time without incident, until a white person attempted to attend and was unceremoniously ejected. Being a vile racist, he complained to the library staff.
What followed would – I presume – have been exactly the same had a KKK chapter ejected a black aspirant.
“The library didn’t cancel anyone’s meeting,” said library spokeswoman Emily Waltenbaugh, referring to a Black Lives Matter meeting Saturday that has been moved to a church. “We’re taxpayer funded. We have to be open to anyone any time.”
The staff asked the BLM folks to either open their meeting or take it down the road. The BLM elected to do the latter – but not without a delighted huff at the racism of it all…
Insert obligatory note about what MLK would be doing right now if he knew…and then keep walking. Never mind, Jake. It’s American racial politics.
At the unnamed place where I once worked, they decided that they needed an Office of Equal Opportunity. Naturally, they hired a black man for the job, and that man initially had a black secretary. When that secretary left, our HR office sent a white lady to replace her from the qualified applicant pool.
You guessed it! Our “Equal Opportunity Coordinator” had a shit fit. Only a black woman would do for him! (Apparently he was irony-impaired) The next thing you knew, he was gone and so was the position.
What color is a non-black person of color? When I was a kid, I could tan up to a seven on the Brown scale. Even now, as long as I keep my shirt on, you might do a double-take in the summer.
Let’s try this again:
I suspect, Ben, that the unnamed place where you once worked did not have any government contracts. Unless, of course, that enterprise was minority-owned.
And Unclezip, a “ non-black person of color is a Hispanic who helps Trayvon case the subdivision to see what he can rip off before he heads back down to Miami, instead of shooting his chimp butt when attacked.
Hopefully this won’t double up…
