Just saw my first hummingbird!

Just this minute, out the front window. The feeder is open for business. I’d take a picture, but the phone’s connected to the laptop.

Was it red? Or green? If I remember correctly, you don’t get good “hummingbird wars” without the Commie hummingbirds…

Of course, then there are always the “watermelon” hummingbirds. Green on the outside, but Red on the inside…

Rufous hummers are green on the back and red on the belly. Joel, you probably get a variety where you are, and I envy your access to the hummingbirds of Arizona. People travel from all over the world to see the hummers of AZ! Enjoy, enjoy! Do you have a birding book to look up the various hummers who might frequent the feeder?

Yeah, we get quite a variety here. I think we’re on the migration track to everywhere else and lots of them summer here. I meant to say in the post that this was ruby-throated.

To the stake with the heretic!
