“This is what real action to stop gun violence looks like!” gushed ol’ Bernie as a foreign head of state apparently banned all further gun violence with a wave of her majestic scepter. Bernie thought that was a fine idea, and saw no reason at all anyone would object to what he seems to consider an obvious and common-sense approach to lawmaking.
Except Landlady noticed a factor that sailed right over my head at the time…

I fear it’s actually the other way around; Donald is in the process of handing Bernie (or some other future gun-hating President) a template for action and a legal precedent that can all-to-easily be milked as an excuse to justify future extra-Constitutional gun regulation by executive fiat. All he/she has to do is await the next big domestic massacre by gunfire, and then declare a National Emergency!
Within weeks, we could be facing New Zealand-style gun regulation.
Seriously, this national emergency loophole needs to be slammed shut, because there is no end to the powers a President could grab in the name of a bogus National Emergency. If it gets slammed on Donald’s fingers, so much the better.

Trump has enacted less NatEmerges in his 2+ years than Obama did in the same time frame.
And… Trump did it on an actual National Emergency dealing with the United States. Not on some foreign issue not really of our concern.

The video is low-resolution, so I’m wary of taking it too seriously. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was yet another case of a fake atrocity perpetrated to make political points (the Palestinians are apparently well know for this kind of thing) but I also wouldn’t be surprised if it actually was real and the hoax-hypothesis is unfounded. Fake crimes have become too common lately to dismiss the hypothesis out of hand though (IMO).
Anyway, just thought I’d throw this out there.
I’m certain we can count on getting an accurate and fair analysis from our Media and our friends in the CIA, jabrwok. After all, if you can’t trust them, who CAN you trust???
jabrwok, I read that analysis. And I made myself watch the video more than once. You can see twitching bodies, and even moaning is audible (which appears to be why the asshole kept returning to shoot the piles. Blood spatter is visible. The extra body at the door is the guy seen in another room running for the entrance, was shot, made it to the hall and collapsed.
The windshield? If you wait a for more seconds when the glare shifts, the holes are visible.
The “disappearing” casings at 9:06 seem to be a thing, but the resolution sucks, and the frame rate could be better.

I don’t say that the shooting was a hoax, but I am dubious about the “manifesto”.
Even the brief passages that I have seen were full of American spelling, and American language construction. (e.g. polarization vs polarisation, and abolishment vs abolition)
I don’t believe that an Australian (as is alleged) would have written that way.

The ‘Manifesto’ was intended to do just what it is doing, to be misinterpreted as some white-neo-nationalist-power screed.
The guy was a self-identified eco-fascist, which means ‘left-leaning ecologically unsound loon.’
His one and only goal was to start a war between everyone, in order to cause lots of deaths, which would be better for the environment, because we, as the human race, never ever, 20 years after a major war, somehow find a way to have replaced the ‘lost’ population, if not double it (seriously, tracking birthrates vs deathrates is a very weird and enlightening study.)

I don’t doubt the intent of the manifesto – I am questioning the source.
Simply put: As an Australian, the spelling and grammar in the document seem dubious if it was written by an Australian, as is being claimed.
I am guessing that there was some help provided in the drafting of the document – by person or persons as yet unidentified, and with motives unknown (but suspected).
As to the silent people being held accountable, I’ve taken to using an analogy with the leftists in my family:
I know that you didn’t drive your car through a crowd of people, killing and maiming dozens, but someone did, so we are taking your car. How is that different to what NZ is doing about guns?
