Zoe gave me a bit of a scare this morning. I went to bed late, and Zoe was doing her usual late-evening spastic ninja routine. Everything was fine. But she didn’t come up to visit me like she usually does, and when I woke up she was nowhere to be seen. Whenever a cat does that, I jump right out of the sack and go count heads.
She was fine, snoozing on the cushion of my folding computer chair. As far as I can tell there’s nothing wrong with her but she didn’t seem to want to play at all. Oh, well, kittens go through changes.
She’s become quite the little predator. Yesterday alone she got confirmed kills on a mouse and a very small bird. Unfortunately I know this because she insisted on bringing them into the Lair to kill them at her leisure. I took the bird away from her before she could scatter feathers everywhere, but don’t know yet what became of the mouse.

Yeah, I always hated to come home… or wake up, to a dead bird and a bunch of feathers all over. Cats, far as I know, are night creatures and hunt then, spending most of the day sleeping. Looks like Zoe has settled into the groove. 🙂
Oh, and she may need regular worming now that she’d eating mice. The local vet would know if the mice in your area harbor harmful worms.
And you do know the petroleum jelly deal for hairballs and general “shouldn’t have ate that” issues…..
