So yesterday around five I fed Little Bear, then went out the front door and around the new addition to the chicken yard to tend the ladies. I opened the back door where I’ve been stashing the sunflower seed bin away from squirrels…and had a good laugh at myself.
Because of course in going out the front door and around to the back door I had to walk right past the perfectly good – in fact obtrusively large – passage between (what used to be) the Lair proper and the new addition…

…and so it’s only a few steps to the door that’s practically touching distance from the hens.

In fact it’s so close that when I pour a slab and build the steps, I’ll need to do it at a bit of an angle just so everything will fit.

But that out-the-front-and-around-to-the-back routine is so ingrained that when it came time to take the walk, I literally didn’t notice the large hole in my wall that I had made only a couple of hours earlier.
I am somewhat set in my ways, I’m afraid…

Give it time, old habits die hard but they do die. :^)
I’ve had some plumbing problems. Fortunately, my home has 2 bathrooms (2.5, counting the sink & commode in the basement).
I fixed the problem this past weekend, & I’m still heading for the other end of the house to use the facilities adjacent to my bedroom.
Like flipping on the light switch and being momentarily dazzled before realizing that the power is still out.
