Okay, so I’m back from the big town with my left eye unsculpted. Official explanation for why my right eye still doesn’t work despite $3000+ in improvements is that the cornea is still badly swelled. Giving it another week to see if the swelling will come down, operating on the left eye right now would only blind me.
On the way home I picked up the brake caliper I ordered a few days ago and a set of pads. Hopefully in the next couple of days I’ll limp Landlady’s Jeep in to town to do something I don’t believe I’ve done in decades, pay somebody else to fix a goddam car.

Thanks for the update! Did the doctor have any suggestions as to anything you could do or refrain from doing that would help to reduce the swelling?
keep taking the eye drops that’re supposed to make the swelling go down and wait some more, that’s all.
If your drops are Prednisolone you may get long, luxurious lashes, too. Powerful stuff. Paying somebody to work on a goddam car is a good thing eye-wise as long as you don’t spike your blood pressure thinking about paying for the goddam repair. As usual, patience.
