Okay, so I’m no longer sleeping alone.

I’ve had a bedmate for the past two nights, and that’s likely to continue whether I like it or not.

Zoe has learned that she can easily get into the Lair’s loft by simply climbing one of the ladder uprights. Getting down is even simpler: She crouches on the top rung and bullies me into coming up to get her.

Yes, I introduced her to the cat ladder. She’s not interested in that right now, since her way is so much simpler.

For the first week or so she was with us I brought her into the loft every night to give the other animals some peace. That stopped when she decided the easiest way down was to jump. From the top of the ladder that’s eight feet and while the adventure didn’t injure her, she clearly decided it wasn’t worth trying again. She IS capable of learning – witness her relations with Ghost, which have improved since he finally convinced her he was not to be a target of her attentions under any circumstances whatsoever. In return for which she was permitted – not really welcome – to continue to exist.

I really prefer kitten-free sleeping, but since that’s not an option I’m just making the best of it. And she will, at least, sleep through the night once she finally settles down.

About Joel

You shouldn't ask these questions of a paranoid recluse, you know.

I have to admit the whole drama of Zoe, Click, Bear and Ghost and everyone else has got me hooked. We have three dogs and there is always something going on,

Joel, good luck with the menagerie. I have a few cats so I know what you are going through. As so many have said… Dogs have masters, cats have staff.

Chuckle, our old cat, Patches, has slept at the bottom of our bed for the last twelve years. She seldom moves during the night. On those rare occasions she wants out she simply moves forward and slaps me in the face. I slap back.

YAY! The comment box is back. I was getting worried. 🙂

Bear suggested that giving you a Corgi might be fun… for herding cats, but you’ve vetoed that idea. LOL

Take a look at my blog post if you want to see my new pal. http://www.thepriceofliberty.org/?p=249

He’s a treasure, but I can’t see Joel with three dogs AND two cats. He’d have to move out to the barn. 🙂
