My indentured servitude to D&L officially ended yesterday afternoon. Today I am a freedman just hiding in the Lair from the wicked wind and I don’t feel like doin’ nothin’ and there’s nothing worth stealing on the whole wide intertubz.
So I’ve spent a substantial portion of my afternoon old-man napping in my chair with a book in my lap, and now having ventured out to tend chickens I shall endeavor to resume it.
Ghost and LB are separately on my shite list, each for having chosen the same day to pull his favorite piss-off-Uncle-Joel trick. LB has returned to chewing on the Jeep’s now nearly destroyed gearshift knob and has lost all his unsupervised Jeep privileges. Ghost vanished for over an hour last night right at bedtime. I finally condemned him to the outer dark where he could bloody well spend the night under the cabin, and of course he came whining at the door just after I had my leg off but before I was safely asleep. In his possible defense, we have had quite a cattle invasion lately and the scent trails must be irresistible. Still, I hate it when I can’t depend on him to stay close and come when he’s called. Here there be monsters.

I have a tomcat who pulls that. He comes howling at the window, but not until I’m in bed & getting comfortable. He’s loud enough to keep me up (I live alone, hence I’m a light sleeper).
I can’t kill him, as he’s the most malevolent little ball of evil intent I’ve seen, espicially in that size package, so I have to let him in. I call him my pit bull kitty (I owned an APBT for 16 years, & I know–this thing’s probably more effective). He’s even built a lot like one–broad & tapered.
Fortunately, I got to keep my leg (accessorized), and I don’t have to de/ascend a ladder.
