Okay.

100_1994
Had to do some running around this morning to gather tools.

100_1991
Bummed Neighbor D’s portable generator. Made sure it still ran after its trip in the Jeep trailer. (I’ve tripped over that issue before.)

Borrowed Landlady’s nailgun and compressor. Already confirmed that they work together.

Then it was time to do some work while the Lair’s west side was still in shadow.

Three Hours Later…

I gaze upon that with no pleasure at all. Undoing all that work, desecrating my beautiful little cabin…I don’t like it.

And Little Bear most certainly does not like it. LB never understands why I have to screw around with his Safe Space. I sympathize completely – I’m just a little more far-thinking, that’s all.

Still a huge mess to clean up. But I need a rest and some lunch.

Joel you’re right to be circumspect about the generator after the jeep rife. Champion generators are made from the best slave labor that China can provide. It’s funny hoe some Chinese stuff is bullet proof in durability and other things you use once and then take it to the dump. I guess quality control is a concept they are still learning.

  2. Raining here. I couldn’t get anything done. Looks like a lot of work on your end though.

Looks like you got a lot done and are ready for the big party tomorrow! Don’t get crazy and be sure to stay hydrated.

I see you’ve even repurposed the Mountain House cans!

My champion has been through hell and back with me. From the desert to the saltwater, banged off everything, starts every pull. It’s the toughest piece of power equipment I own. Isnthe it funny how things can be the same yet so different?

Champions can go both ways. When I first moved here I spent a year and a half in a small-engine repair shop, and grew to loath them. But this particular one has been here longer than I have – not trouble-free, I’ve rebuilt the carb and replaced the voltage regulator – but generally reliable under hard use.

Hey Goober like you I have some Chinese equipment. For example I have a sawzall made by “Power Fist” that I picked up for $29 and will not die no matter the abuse I put it through. But there have been other items I’ve had that if you look at them funny they quit. I picked up a champion generator from Costco a few years ago. It was all of 4 months old and lightly used. Just before it had enough hours for the first oil change it died. Lucky for me Costco was good and took it back. I have no issues with Chinese gear but I make sure of the warranty and until I’ve had it around for a while I don’t trust it. It all depends on luck of the draw quality control wise I guess.

  8. Looking forward to hearing tomorrow that it was a great success and that a good time was had by all!

Oh come on now, Plug Nickel Outfit, where’s the entertainment value in that???

I join the crowd in thinking of you and all those good desert-hermit friends today, Joel. May you do great and have a better time than you anticipate. Can’t wait to see TONS of pix!

Hey, that chop saw was a great score, too.

To the stake with the heretic!
