My battery voltage level is scandalously low, and while yesterday’s forecast promised some afternoon sun for today so far I have seen no sign of it.
So I’m unplugging, right now. Fortunately I just came back from Ian’s excellent library and found something I’d managed to overlook, all those other times I’ve scanned his shelves…

One of the two Barbara Tuchman books I’ve never read. And I’ve been in the middle of a Tuchman festival, and was just this morning wishing I could get a copy!
So now it can rain for three days for all I care. Later.

You are going to enjoy that book! So few know anything about that theater and less about that very strange courageous man. As always, Tuchman covers it brilliantly.
I’ve had that book on my nightstand for the past two years. Read it through once, and I still pull it out to reread selected sections.
The whole Japanese invasion of chine reads like a nightmare; can you imagine if America had been invaded like that?
(If not, I recommend Hershey’s “White Lotus” for your next reading session. And no, you can’t have my copy of that book, either.)
