“There’ll probably be some gunfire around six ayem…”

So Ian told me last evening. He’s in training for some run’n’gun event. I really murderously object to roosters doing their thing at 4:30, but don’t at all mind gunfire at six. I’m already up, or at least awake.

Ghost, on the other hand…

He was out there barking away, warning whoever that is moving over there he’d better think twice about coming over here, boy, because we’re really mean over here. Yeah. You better watch out.

And then he got a glimpse or a whiff of what was going on. He dropped his previous agenda, whined to get in the cabin, and went straight to the Kneehole of Comfort. Gunfire is Ghost Kryptonite. Funny thing is, it hadn’t even started yet. Wuss.

LB is still out in the cool. He couldn’t care less as long as it isn’t happening right over him.

  1. Poor Ghost. It’s funny how dogs respond to things sometimes. My big Labrador, prize stud dog, was just fine with shotguns firing right overhead when we were hunting, but he seriously did not like it when I shot the 30-30… ran back to the house if he could. Very different sounds, of course, but both quite loud. If they could only tell us… 🙂

And then there was my crazy Nadja, who would lie down in the wash right next to the targets and have to repeatedly be shooed away. Even once we could manage to keep her from having a nice nap downrange, she’d stay right on the firing line, seeming to enjoy our shooting as much as we did.

Yes, I remember. Nadj did insist on sharing the experience.

    Crazy dog…

Maybe you guys need to put a GoPro camera on your furry little friends to see things from their point of view. I’m sure if you asked nice Ian would loan you one if he has any.

To the stake with the heretic!
