Georgeous day.

It's such a beautiful day, I expect Mr. Rogers to bumble into the mine field any minute.

It’s such a beautiful day, I expect Mr. Rogers to bumble into the mine field any minute.

Got the shit-shoveling out of the way fairly early and don’t have anything much else going on. I put a new latch on the Gitmo door and I was supposed to bake bread today, but it’s just too pretty out. Cloudless, almost windless, and warm as a hug. Looks like it’s gonna top out at about seventy in the shade. But there ain’t that much shade.

Ghost comes inside only to rehydrate, since it’s not yet time for the self-filling dog bowl (Plus, thanks to winter damage, I’ve got to rebuild the Lair’s water system to let it be attached.) I got so tired of his whining I finally just left the door open. Bugs are present, but not bad yet.

Little Bear’s mission: 1. protect the front. 2. stay in the shade. 3. confuse Lair’s radar signature by shedding profusely.

That old cargo parachute is working out much better than the landscape cloth it replaces. Hasn’t been tested by a really serious wind yet, but moderate wind doesn’t bother it and the shade is much better now.

Always always enjoy the pictures! I’m so looking forward to consistent weather that allows just leaving the door open for the dogs. Might do it today then tomorrow is more snow forecast.

We’ve used that ugly a$$ construction fencing for overhead cover and report similar results. Keeps out bird and feline pests (not insects though, the bastards!). Allows enough sunlight to filter through and still shade the ground. Yet still allows wind to blow through it for long life. Our material has been there longer than 10 years and its still going strong, suspended over PVC pipe hoops.
